About the Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially minded and analytically strong Senior Strategy Analyst to support the CEO and Executive Leadership Team in evaluating opportunities, making evidence-based decisions and delivering the Company’s strategic priorities.
This is an opportunity to work across the business on high-priority commercial and strategic questions, turning complex information into clear insights, financial models and practical recommendations that inform executive and Board decisions.
Reporting to the Advisor to the CEO, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation, with exposure to Alliance’s commercial performance, corporate strategy and major business initiatives.
A key focus of the role will be strengthening how Alliance uses management information, reporting, dashboards and approved AI-enabled tools to improve decision-making, reduce manual processes and deliver meaningful business efficiencies.
We are looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, challenges assumptions, asks the right questions and can confidently explain what the numbers mean and what the business should do next.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract through to 30 June 2027, with the potential for further career progression within Alliance, subject to demonstrated performance, business requirements and available opportunities.
What You'll Be Doing
Strategy, Research and Commercial Analysis
- Lead analytical assignments from defining the business question and gathering evidence through to developing and presenting recommendations.
- Build and maintain financial and commercial models to evaluate strategic opportunities, test assumptions and assess different scenarios.
- Research market dynamics, competitor activity, customer demand and industry developments, identifying implications for Alliance.
- Support the development, refinement and annual review of the Company’s corporate strategy.
- Prepare concise, evidence-based briefings, papers and presentations for the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and provide objective analysis to support sound commercial decisions.
AI, Reporting and Decision Intelligence
- Develop a structured, searchable repository of Alliance’s business information, including strategy documents, performance reports, Board papers, market data and project records, using approved AI tools.
- Build and maintain dashboards that provide the CEO and Executive Leadership Team with timely visibility of business performance and strategic delivery.
- Identify opportunities to simplify reporting, reduce unnecessary meetings and eliminate repetitive manual processes.
- Evaluate and recommend approved AI tools and workflows in consultation with IT and relevant risk owners.
- Support safe and effective AI adoption, maintaining appropriate standards for confidentiality, data classification and information security.
- Help colleagues build their capability in using approved tools and measure the practical benefits delivered through time savings, improved reporting and faster decision-making.
Strategic Projects and Performance Reporting
- Maintain a consolidated view of strategic initiatives, including owners, milestones, dependencies, risks and progress.
- Develop business cases and benefit assessments supported by robust analysis and clearly stated assumptions.
- Monitor delivery against agreed plans, identify emerging risks and escalate delays or issues.
- Prepare executive performance reporting and maintain the Company scorecard and associated measures.
- Continuously improve reporting quality, focusing on meaningful insights, accuracy and efficiency.
- Undertake projects and reviews assigned by the Office of the CEO, with opportunities to take on increasing complexity as capability develops.
About You
You are naturally curious, commercially astute and comfortable working through complex problems. You enjoy getting beyond the surface, questioning assumptions and using evidence to develop recommendations that make a real difference to business outcomes.
You can work independently, manage analysis end-to-end and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders. You understand that good analysis is not just about producing spreadsheets or presentations; it is about helping decision-makers understand their options and make better decisions.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Aviation Management or a related analytical discipline.
- Relevant experience in strategy, consulting, advisory, transaction services, corporate development or commercial or data analytics.
- Strong financial and commercial literacy, including business case development, modelling and an understanding of business performance drivers.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience analysing, interpreting and presenting complex data.
- The ability to translate detailed analysis into clear, concise recommendations for senior decision-makers.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail and a commitment to analytical accuracy.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and respond to questions from senior stakeholders.
- Initiative and self-direction, with the ability to identify problems, develop solutions and improve processes without waiting to be directed.
- Sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential commercial and executive information.
- Practical capability with approved AI tools and a genuine interest in using technology to improve analytical quality, productivity and business processes.
Experience with SQL, Python or Power BI will be highly regarded. Big Four or comparable advisory experience, postgraduate study or a professional qualification such as CA, CFA or CPA will also be advantageous.
Experience in aviation, transport, resources or infrastructure is beneficial, but more important is your ability to understand a complex operating environment and a genuine interest in the aviation industry.
