About the Role

The Safety & Injury Management Advisor is responsible for coordinating injury management and return-to-work programs while providing practical workplace health and safety support across Alliance Airlines. Working closely with operational leaders, employees, external providers and regulators, the role ensures compliance with workers’ compensation and WHS requirements while promoting employee wellbeing and positive safety outcomes.

This role combines injury management expertise with operational WHS support, driving proactive risk management, injury prevention and continuous improvement across a multi-site, safety-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
• Maintain effective relationships with external injury management and rehabilitation providers.
• Develop and monitor suitable duties plans for injured employees.
• Facilitate workplace assessments and rehabilitation programs.
• Manage non-work-related injuries where an employee's capacity to perform duties is impacted.
• Provide guidance and support to leaders regarding injury management obligations and best practice.
• Monitor claim performance, costs and return-to-work outcomes.
• Prepare wage reimbursement claims and provide payroll instructions relating to compensation payments.
• Maintain accurate and confidential injury management records.
• Monitor Loss of Licence matters and associated entitlements.
• Identify injury trends and recommend corrective and preventative initiatives.
• Provide practical WHS advice and support to operational leaders and employees.
• Interpret WHS legislation, codes of practice, guidance material and industry safety requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and support hazard identification processes.
• Participate in workplace investigations and incident reviews.

Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for an experienced health and safety professional with demonstrated expertise in injury management, rehabilitation and workers’ compensation within an operational environment. You will have a strong understanding of workers’ compensation and return-to-work requirements, workplace health and safety legislation, and risk management principles, with proven experience managing complex injury and rehabilitation cases. Experience working across multi-site operational environments is highly valued, while exposure to aviation, transport, logistics or other safety-critical industries will be advantageous. You will bring a practical, collaborative approach and the ability to effectively support employees, leaders and stakeholders throughout the injury management process.

To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

• Return-to-Work Coordinator accreditation (or ability to obtain)
• Formal WHS qualification (Cert IV or higher)
• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Psychology or related discipline (desired but not necessary)
• Demonstrated experience in injury management, rehabilitation or workers' compensation.
• Previous experience in Workplace Health and Safety across an operational organisation
• Strong understanding of workers' compensation legislation and return-to-work requirements.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
• Experience managing complex injury and rehabilitation cases.
• Experience working in a multi-site operational environment
• Knowledge of aviation, transport, logistics or other safety-critical industries is desirable
