About the Role

The Operations Controller plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and performance of the Alliance Airlines network. You will coordinate aircraft and crew resources, manage the network schedule and work closely with key operational teams to ensure safety, compliance and client requirements are met.

This is a fast-paced role where you will lead complex operational recovery strategies, balancing available resources, recovery costs and the impacts of disruption. You will need to make timely, informed decisions to keep the network operating effectively and minimise disruption.

The role operates on a 24/7 shift roster, providing continuous operational support across the Alliance Airlines network.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately maintain the airlines Charter and RPT schedule within the Operations Control System.
• Maintain Flight Crew and Cabin Crew rosters after publication,
• Monitoring and optimising the airline schedule, to minimize airline disruption and maximize On Time Performance (OTP).
• Manage the Metron Harmony Slot Control program, coordinating with Air Services Australia and airlines, ensuring optimization and compliance within the program.
• Solving complex operational problems with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to: Engineering, Airports, Flight Operations, Commercial, Clients, Air Services, other Airlines etc.
• Work closely with Client & Charter Coordinators and Commercial with regards to customer recovery and customer flow during disruption.
• Coordinate Ad-hoc charter and client requests within the operational window, ensuring the requests are operationally feasible.
• Manage communication output where there are delayed, disrupted, and cancelled services to ensure all critical stakeholders involved are informed.
• Coordination of Flight Planning with Qantas Flight Planning.
• Monitoring / Assessing Weather Conditions across the Network to proactively manage disruption.
• VHF/HF Communications with operating crew.

Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for a calm, decisive and highly organised professional who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You will have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, balance competing priorities and develop effective recovery strategies under pressure. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with Flight Operations, Engineering, Ground Operations, Safety and Compliance, crew and other key stakeholders. You will be comfortable working with changing priorities, managing operational disruptions and making decisions that consider resources, costs and network impacts. Flexibility and a willingness to work a 24/7 shift roster are essential.

To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

• Relevant exposure/experience within an Operations Control Centre environment highly regarded
• Educated to Degree level in Aviation Management or Aviation related discipline (Desirable, not essential)
• Previous frontline operations exposure in an Aviation or other logistics setting environment (Desirable, not essential)
• Understanding/experience of Airport Operations / constraints
• Understanding/experience in Crew Resource Management, Rostering and the application of legislation and industrial agreements relating to crew
• Experience in rostering large volumes of team members
• Experience working both independently and within small teams
• Experience working in a high-pressured environment that is time critical
•  Knowledge of Fatigue Risk Management within Aircrew
